How do I get from Banda Aceh to the Breuh Island? - Here is a tip on travel possibility for getting to the Breuh Island based on the experience of Muridhal, Dedy, Fahmi, Alul, Ucay, Alin, Mujee and me. In total, there is the one and only by using Acehnese traditional fishing boat.

How do I get from Banda Aceh to the Breuh Island?

There are two providers every day except Friday, KM Jasa Bunda and Satria Muda on 14:00 PM (be on time). There is also a boat that directly to the Meulingge, but the timetable is uncertain, usually only on Monday and Thursday.

The journey takes – depending on the provider and the stops – takes about 2 ½ hours (plus the time for loading and unloading) and sometimes it can be kind of “turbulent“.

This kind transport is the low-budget way. The crossing from Lampulo, Banda Aceh to Seurapong, Breuh Island only costs about 20,000 Rupiah for one way to each passenger. 

Many interesting places in Breuh Island that can be reached by foot or mountain bicycle, although it may take longer time. There is no public transport on the Breuh Island, so we shipped our bike. Don't forget to spray rust prevention liquid, because your motorcycle will be exposed to salt water splashes. 

Travelling to Breuh Island by motorcycle could not be easier. You should pay 20,000 Rupiah for a boatman to load smaller 150cc motorcycle into a boat and it cost 20,000 Rupiah for each motorcycle one way.

We went over to where our motorcycle (2 automatics and 2 clutch motorcycles) were parked and rode it down to where the boat was beached on the shore. I still was not sure about how we were going to about getting the motorcycle loaded into the boat. The boatman came over to me and told me to watch him as he loaded the smaller 150 cc motorcycle onto the bike.

In a very choreographed series of maneuvers, he put the bike in neutral gear and then expertly rolled the bike backwards onto the 30" wide plank, over the top of the gunnel then held it there while his young assistant grabbed the back end of the motorcycle and held it in place while he got into position to maneuver the bike down a second plank inside the boat. It all looked pretty easy and I am sure that he had done this literally a thousand times or more before.

The trip was wonderful, the crew very professional and I have to say: I had the feeling my bike was safe with them, even allowed them to move my bike around on the deck without my supervision.

Sights before berthing in Serapong

There is no boat passenger seat, just sit where you want. But be careful if you sit on the edge of boat wall, hold it tight or you’ll fell overboard.

Passenger loading and unloading activities on Serapong port seems unsafe. There should be a stair that can be useful for everyone especially for woman passengers.

To return to Banda Aceh, the boat from the Gugop village departing at 08.00 AM. Do not be late, because the scheduled departure of this boat is very one time.
