PODs is The Backpackers Home
When I’m traveling, like many backpackers, I go with the mindset that the cheaper the accommodation the better. That is the whole philosophy behind backpackers hostels, right?. Cost and location are the two major considerations for any backpacker and me in searching for a hostel.
PODs is The Backpackers Home
Well on my last trip to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, I definitely wanted to save some cash seeing as cities are always on the more expensive end. But I didn’t want to sacrifice comfort, and I definitely wanted a place where I could meet other travelers, share stories and make new friends for exploring the area.
I found PODs Backpacker walking out from the KL Sentral. Situated within a short walk of KL Sentral, the main city bus and train station, and to the monorail lines, it means whatever way you arrive in Kuala Lumpur, you won’t have far to go to find your bed for the night.
When I walked in, the staff were super friendly and made me feel right at home, and the price was right for a room so I decided to stay. They put me in a dorm and it was clean with the light green (my favorite color) decor in the rooms. For such a low price, I was impressed by the cozy overall feel.
I came here at 1 am, the staff said that lights should be off and no showers after 11pm because it may irritate some people, so i must be quite. AC is turned on between 6 pm to 7 am but there are fans in each room to be used everyday. This hostel should beno children below 18 years old.
I was super impressed with the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff at PODs, as I wandered out of my room the first day. They probably saw that I looked a bit confused on what to do in this massive city, so they got me out a map and circled some great places to check out. The staff at PODs are awesome unfailingly patient and amazingly helpful and knowledgeable about almost everything.
Everyone I met here at PODs was from all over the world, so it was a really interesting experience. And while it was social, nighttime was quiet in the rooms and I wasn’t bothered by the sound of a bar or loud music going all night long like at some other hostels. They even offer a free breakfast in the mornings and a convenience store open all night long!

PODs has a large central open area where people chill and get together. Over breakfast, which is provided, is another opportunity to chat with fellow travelers, though be warned, not everyone is full of the joys first thing!
This hostel, including the clean and decent common sharing bathroom and toilets, is spotlessly clean, and this by itself makes it worth staying there. There is always hot water, and heater re also available, and for the warmer weather, there is efficient air conditioning.
Nearby is Chinatown so there is always somewhere cheap and handy to eat! and failing that there is numerous street eating stalls in the vicinity.
My time in Kuala Lumpur was incredible and I was so happy every night to come home to PODs, a clean and friendly guest house that saved me cash and made me some great friends as well!
