Celebrating International Sanger Day With Traditional Concept

@iloveaceh community, held a peak of International Sanger Day in the courtyard of Pasar Atjeh, Saturday (31/10/2015 ) evening. Acehnese coffee lovers, at that night enjoyed free Sanger while entertained by a solo singer newcomers Tereza & Friends  and Amoba Band.

The initiator of the event, Aulia Fitri from the @iloveaceh Community, said the celebration was held to further popularize typical drink Acehnese coffee shop, which became the main menu all around Aceh.

Sanger coffee is made from a mixture of good black coffee from robusta or arabica beans and sweet condensed milk mixed sugar. If at first glance, sanger in general just like coffee cappucin milk or as a mixture. This type of beverage was born in the early 1990s. According to history, Sanger is an acronym of “sama-sama ngerti” or “both understand”.

Sanger came from compromise between the coffee shop owner/barista and its customers. According to the story, Sanger was born when students who hang out in a coffee shop, eager to drink coffee milk. However, because the price of milk is expensive, the drink was finally tricked by adding sugar and milk reduction.

Sanger Day was first held in 2013 and then in 2014 at Solong Mini Coffee Shop. “It celebrated every October 12” said Fahmi Yunus  as International Sanger Day originator. This year, the celebration sanger day was implemented in nine coffee shops in Banda Aceh and Lhokseumawe.

Related to the peak night, some of the concepts had been packed with events revive local wisdom, which is the setting for visitors to use the dress code sarong while sitting cross-legged while enjoying a Sanger and timphan as traditional snack from Aceh. So, the concept made everyone who came like hanging out in the villages.

And interestingly for visitors to the dress code most suitable and the best will get the merchandise from the supporters of the event. At that night, crew chose me as one of suitable dress and got "Baluem Cuet" as a gift. An easygoing new friend Ija Kroeng owner, Mr. Khairul Fahri Yahya who allowed extra time for sharing his business experience.

Visitors also be invited to a talk related to the development of special drink that they had hoped to become an icon attractive as a form of promotion and attraction in Aceh.

The event International Sanger Day is an activity that is initiated independently by the @iloveaceh community and ILATeam Management also supported by the Department of Culture and Tourism Aceh, Nescafe provided 100 sanger cup for free, Timphan Asoe Kaya provided 100 timphan for free too, Peugot Aceh, Ija Kroeng Hand Made Aceh, Syarikat Agam Inong (SAIN) Aceh and Jambo Desain.
